They definitely love their art in Wondai! \u00a0Flooding rain and blocked roads couldn’t keep a hardy group of local residents away from the opening of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery’s March exhibition on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Numbers were down – \u00a0Murgon, Nanango and Kingaroy visitors either couldn’t get through or feared they might not be able to get home – but that didn’t stop the night being successful.<\/p>\n

On show were artworks by Daphne Browne and Friends in the main gallery (the “friends” were Jan Sody, Gwen Olm, Jeanette Ann Winton, Robyn Parker and Ethne Kinsela).<\/p>\n

These are all local South Burnett artists who work in a range of media, including pastels, oils and acrylics.<\/p>\n

In the front gallery, leather artisans Lorraine Tinniswood and Sandra Hoffmann had a range of works on display, including leather boxes, bowls and vases.<\/p>\n

And in the third gallery, Julia Shaw has artworks on display made from branches, sticks, rocks, coral and clay.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy State School took over Kidz Korner with artworks, along with their prize-winning cow from last year’s Brisbane Exhibition.<\/p>\n

The “lady in pink”, Cr Kathy Duff, was called upon to do the official opening, which she did by cutting a pink ribbon she brought along especially for the occasion.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will remain at the gallery throughout March.<\/p>\n
