Wooroolin Memorial Hall will get a mini-makeover thanks to a $7954 State Government grant.<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on Tuesday that the\u00a0Wooroolin Community Committee was one of six groups across Queensland to receive funding under Round 2 of\u00a0the Queensland Veterans\u2019 Memorial Grants Program.<\/p>\n

Wooroolin Community Committee secretary Wendy Turner said she was delighted the committee was receiving the funding.<\/p>\n

It would be used to refurbish the silky oak doors that lead into the hall as well as the tiled steps.<\/p>\n

Local councillor Ros Heit said it was fantastic news for the Wooroolin community members who do so much to maintain their facilities.<\/p>\n

Premier Palaszczuk said it was a\u00a0privilege to support the communities and organisations caring for war memorials across Queensland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMemorials link the past to the present and are an important way for young people to understand the contribution of our servicemen and women,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Queensland Veterans\u2019 Memorial Grants Program helps to ensure veterans\u2019 groups and other eligible community organisations can continue to create and conserve a lasting legacy for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The final round is now open and includes funding of up to $40,000 per project and additional funding of up to $10,000 for conservation management plans.<\/p>\n

Applications close in August.<\/p>\n
