St Mary’s Catholic College’s P&F launched their fundraising drive for the school’s new air-conditioning system on the weekend, despite the dark threat of rain clouds looming over Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

While the rain held off until later in the day, it really wouldn’t have made much difference to the run’s participants – most emerged damp but very colourful after they completed a mini-obstacle course laid out around the school’s grounds.<\/p>\n

The College has taken out a $250,000 loan to air-condition several primary and secondary classrooms, and the P&F pledged to service it.<\/p>\n

So barely a few weeks into the school term, they went into action on Saturday afternoon with a colour run fundraiser that drew close to 200 parents, students and teachers.<\/p>\n

The run was compered by P&F president Damien Martoo, who had the unenviable task of organising all grades from prep to seniors before the run commenced. <\/strong><\/p>\n

St Mary’s Adopt-a-Cop Senior Constable Todd Armstrong, teacher Alyssa Thomas and St Mary’s parish priest Fr Chukwudi Chinaka volunteered to be the first people around the course to show everyone how it was done.<\/p>\n

The trio lined up at the starting mark, braved the course’s obstacles (one of which was being hosed down to ensure the colours would stick), and finally ran the gauntlet between lines of students and teachers lined up near the finish line who were waiting to colour them with spray bottles.<\/p>\n
