A bright idea and fundraising by two Council volunteers will make life a little bit safer for visitors to Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre volunteer Kay Clark suggested a defibrillator should be made available at the Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street … just in case.<\/p>\n

Her husband Ralph, another Council volunteer and a member of the Taabinga Rotary Club, quickly came on board with the idea especially as many of the visitors to the VIC are in an age group most vulnerable for heart problems.<\/p>\n

“It’s a sad thing to say, but it’s true,” Ralph told southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This is just being practical.”<\/p>\n

Taabinga Rotary financed the majority of the purchase which was also subsidised by Kingaroy Rotary.<\/p>\n

The couple also reached into their own pockets and\u00a0Cr Terry Fleischfresser contributed money from his Council discretionary fund.<\/p>\n

The life-saving device was officially handed over to the Visitor Information Centre on Monday.<\/p>\n

The portable defibrillator, which is mounted near the ramp heading into the museum, is the latest in a series which have been made possible around the South Burnett due to the efforts of Rotary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
