The Goomeri Lions Hot Chip Van is gearing up for this year’s round of shows – the first being the Proston Show on March 9, then Murgon on March 16 and Goomeri on March 23.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be a busy month for the Lions – as long as Mother Nature co-operates in the plans!<\/p>\n

We hope to see you at one – or all! – of the upcoming shows.<\/p>\n

Goomeri Lions was also part of the recent “beach cricket” fundraiser at Goomeri Shorgrounds.<\/p>\n

January’s mega volumes of rain in the Goomeri area left this small town devastated by the destructive force of Mother Nature.<\/p>\n

To provide the townspeople with a bit of levity and fun, the Goomeri Show Society sponsored a “Beach Cricket” in the arena at the showgrounds, bearing in mind the nearest “beach” in the area would be the flooded sand hazards at the local golf course.<\/p>\n

Several local teams were challenged by out of town ‘ringers’ to provide a great night for all who attended.<\/p>\n

There was a huge raffle to support the efforts of the Goomeri Show Society to rebuild their demolished pavilion with a local shop owner winning the big prize of a trip away for five days to the Mantra Legends at Surfers Paradise.<\/p>\n

More than $2000 was raised; with the Goomeri Lions Club donating the chip van’s $220 takings on the night and Kilkivan business Sambella Transport donating $500.<\/p>\n
