Recent storms have caused an estimated $1 million damage to the South Burnett\u2019s road network, Council\u2019s meeting heard on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Roads Portfolio chair Cr Gavin Jones said repair work was already under way but it would take some time before all roads could be fully restored.<\/p>\n

He said most of the region’s road network had stood up “fairly well” to recent storms, however some roads had suffered damage and would need repairs.<\/p>\n

“I understand people’s frustration when it’s their road that needs to be fixed,” Cr Jones said.<\/p>\n

“It’s only human to want to get it fixed as fast as possible, and to get frustrated when that doesn’t seem to be happening.”<\/p>\n

Cr Jones said that with a 3000km network to cover, it was simply impossible to work on all damaged sections at once.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So while he encouraged people to report road damage to Council so it could be logged for attention, he also urged patience.<\/p>\n

Road crews would be attending to all the issues Council knew about as quickly as they could, he said.<\/p>\n

But with such a big area to cover, restoring all the region’s roads to pre-storm condition was likely to take a little while.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
