Toowoomba Regional Council has activated its Local Disaster Management Group after recent heavy rain and predictions of more to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we moved the LDMG to ‘alert’ as a result of the potential impacts to the community from the continued heavy rainfall that has (caused), and may continue to cause, further flooding and flash flooding across the region,\u201d Mayor Paul Antonio said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile this rain has certainly been most welcome, there are a number of areas within our region that need to be on alert over the coming days. We have received some much-needed rain in our dams but overall the dam levels are still quite low.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a time for our residents to panic but it\u2019s about making sure we are ready for whatever may come.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mayor Antonio said the LDMG would\u00a0provide advice to residents through Council\u2019s communication channels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we put these processes in place I would like to reinforce the message of ‘Be Prepared and Get Ready’ to our residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake sure you have a plan in place, consider your pets, check on your neighbours, help those who are more vulnerable and in an emergency always call 000.<\/p>\n

Sandbagging stations have also been opened around the region.<\/p>\n

In Yarraman, a sandbagging station has been set up\u00a0in Barr Smith Street, opposite the Council Depot near the Watson Street intersection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For Quinalow\/Maclagan residents, it is located in the Quinalow Recreation Reserve at the corner of Pechey Maclagan Road and Daly Street.<\/p>\n
