It is also important to note that farm businesses are often family homes,\u201d QFF CEO Dr Georgina Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe previous offence of unlawfully entering farming land did not meet the expectations of farmers and the community in punishing and most importantly, preventing future offences of trespass, and did not reflect the potential risk to farming businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQFF and member industries have been constructively working with the Queensland Government and Opposition for some time to realise more effective laws for farmers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that the issue is starting to be addressed in a meaningful way, and with the LNP Opposition\u2019s Private Members Bill proposing three new criminal trespass offences still waiting for its day in Parliament, there can be no excuses for not getting it right.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related article: <a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/02\/06\/farm-invaders-face-60000-fines\/\">Farm Invaders Face $60,000 Fines<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Queensland Farmers\u2019 Federation has welcomed the State Parliament\u2019s bipartisan support of new laws imposing greater penalties for animal activists trespassing on farmers\u2019 properties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":268959,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,36],"tags":[1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
