{"id":252330,"date":"2020-02-06T17:44:52","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T07:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=252330"},"modified":"2020-07-13T10:35:13","modified_gmt":"2020-07-13T00:35:13","slug":"nominations-sought-for-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/02\/06\/nominations-sought-for-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations Sought For Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_211825\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-211825\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/20180618award1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-211825\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/20180618award1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/20180618award1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/20180618award1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-211825\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FLASHBACK: The Ration Shed in Cherbourg won a Queensland Reconciliation Award in 2018 &#8230; Aunty Sandra Morgan with the trophy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>February 6, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nominations are now open for 2020 Queensland Reconciliation Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The awards recognise initiatives undertaken by businesses, community organisations, schools and government going above and beyond their core business to foster reconciliation and pave the way for a better future for Queensland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nominations are invited in the following categories:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Partnership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Premier&#8217;s Reconciliation Award will also be presented to a nominated initiative that has demonstrated innovative strategies and exceptional outcomes towards advancing reconciliation in Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s $25,000 in prize money to be shared across all award categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nominations close on Monday, February 24.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The winner will be announced at a ceremony during National Reconciliation Week, May 27-June 3.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The 2019 winner proved that\u00a0that small\u00a0acts can change the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mossman State School, with the Kuku Yalanji Language Advisory Group, was the proud recipient of the\u00a0Partnership award and the Premier\u2019s Reconciliation Award for their initiative &#8221; Respect and<br \/>\nConsultation: Honouring Kuku Yalanji Language&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This ground-breaking program between Elders and\u00a0teachers embedded Kuku Yalanji into the primary school community.<\/p>\n<p>Mossman State\u00a0School&#8217;s Sharon Case encouraged groups to nominate for this year&#8217;s awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpotlighting and celebrating the cross-collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous\u00a0Queensland is a vital step in building a more inclusive society,\u201d Ms Case said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReconciliation is about valuing and embedding Indigenous culture.
