The many cultures that call the South Burnett home will be on show in April when the inaugural Festival Of Cultures is held in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The event, in Memorial Park on April 4, is being hosted by the South Burnett Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation (SBATSIC) but its focus is wider than local Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n

The aim is to “showcase and share” the diverse cultures of the region with music, dancing, stories, games, activities and stalls at a family-friendly event.<\/p>\n

The call has gone out already for performers and stallholders, and now the big day also has its own special logo.<\/p>\n

It was designed by Year 10 Kingaroy State High School student Lily Heiner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lily said she chose the design to symbolise her wish for equality in the eyes of everyone.<\/p>\n

“I hope in the future this wish can become a reality,” she said.<\/p>\n

Lily was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Robert and Jocelyn Clancy, from SBATSIC, at the Kingaroy State High School assembly on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
