The new Qantas Academy has the capacity to train 250 pilots year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Qantas’ new multi-million-dollar pilot academy was officially opened near Wellcamp Airport on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the opening was a landmark moment for Toowoomba and the Queensland aviation industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cConstruction of the academy has already created around 100 jobs, while also supporting an additional 300 jobs along the construction supply chain,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the academy begins to reach its full capacity, eventually training 250 pilots a year, up to 160 new jobs will be created in training and support roles.”<\/p>\n

State Development Minister Cameron Dick said students who attended the facility would receive the best possible start to their aviation careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only are students training in a syllabus established by one of the world\u2019s great airlines, they also have access to the latest in aviation training systems,\u201d Mr Dick said.<\/p>\n

Wagner Corporation Director Neill Wagner said the project had been completed within five months.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeeting this extremely challenging deadline is a credit to the Wagner Corporation team who have worked together in an efficient way to deliver this project at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport,\u201d Mr Wagner said.<\/p>\n

He said construction of a Regional Trade Distribution Centre would begin at Wellcamp Airport early this year.<\/p>\n
