Anglers flock to Boondooma Dam for the annual Yellowbelly competition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking Association today announced May 4-5 as the new dates for this year’s Yellowbelly Fishing Competition.<\/p>\n

The annual competition is normally held in early February but had to be postponed this year because of the Australia Day floods, which caused heavy damage to roads and infrastructure in the Boondooma area.<\/p>\n

However, repair works carried out by the South Burnett Regional Council over the last month will permit the competition to proceed.<\/p>\n

The Yellowbelly is the Association’s major fundraiser, allowing the group to maintain a sustainable recreational fishery at the dam.<\/p>\n

Entry fees for this year’s competition will be $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged less than 16 years.<\/p>\n

All anglers must also have a current Stock Impoundment Permit, which can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online at www.daff.qld.gov.au<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Entry fees don’t include the cost of camping at the lake, but accommodation available at the dam includes five self-contained cabins; a communal bunkhouse; powered sites and non-powered lakeside camping areas.<\/p>\n
