Murgon Police are developing a database of privately owned CCTV cameras to help catch criminals<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Murgon police are setting up a database of private CCTV cameras throughout the local area.<\/p>\n

Anyone with a home security camera who is willing to help police should pass on their details to Constable Alex Smith at Murgon Police Station.<\/p>\n

“This information will then be used to compile a database of CCTV coverage, enabling officers to observe more of the town thus increasing safety and policing effectiveness,” a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“All that is needed from people is their name, contact number, address the CCTV is at and possibly a brief description of the footage available, eg. driveway or footpath.<\/p>\n

“This information will only be accessible by police and will not be released publicly.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully this will help to reduce property crime and aid investigations in our neighbourhood.”<\/p>\n

A similar initiative was launched by Kingaroy Police last year.<\/p>\n
