Santa Claus paid a visit to Proston’s Christmas Carnival to hand out small gifts, ice creams and lollies to children, courtesy of his helpers at the Proston Men’s Shed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

December 22, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guests at this year’s Proston Christmas Carnival braved hot weather for a relaxed evening of fun at Railway Park last Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Several hundred people poured into the park from late afternoon to enjoy a traditional celebration and an upbeat night out, meeting old friends and making new ones.<\/p>\n

As usual, the Proston Show Society did a rip-roaring trade supplying freshly cooked burgers and sausage sandwiches to hungry carnival-goers.<\/p>\n

Adults could also browse other market and food stalls or enjoy live music from The Stepping Stones.<\/p>\n

Children were able to amuse themselves on a giant climbing wall, courtesy of the Proston Scouts.<\/p>\n

And when Santa arrived soon after sundown, children could also get free ice-creams and sweets from the jolly gentleman, who was assisted by helpers from the Proston Men’s Shed.<\/p>\n

New Golden Spurs Hotel licensees Di and Andy Grant took the opportunity of the Christmas Carnival to get out and meet the local residents.<\/p>\n

The Proston and District Heritage Association, who were manning a stand serving fruit salads and other desserts, were happy to discuss their plans to set up museum in one of Proston Village’s recently acquired shops next year.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington and her husband Jason said they were very impressed with the obvious effort the community had put into the Christmas carnival.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington congratulated the Carnival’s organisers on a really great night and said she shared everyone’s wish for a wet Christmas and an end to the drought.<\/p>\n

Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff, carrying a portable microphone, acted as compere on the night.<\/p>\n
