Wondai Regional Art Gallery’s latest exhibition is offering visitors something unique this summer: the first non-metropolitan exhibition from the Pastel Society Of Australia (PSA).<\/p>\n

The exhibition opened at the start of December and will run until February 2.<\/p>\n

The PSA is a Brisbane-based, not-for-profit group devoted to the education of member artists and the promotion of soft pastels (ie. pure pigment in stick form) as a fine art medium.<\/p>\n

While most of its members are based in south-east Queensland, the group also has many rural and interstate members, as well as a number of Master Pastellists who are recognised world-wide.<\/p>\n

These include South Burnett artist Karol Oakley and Wynnum artist Graham Smith, both of whom have previously exhibited at Wondai.<\/p>\n

The summer exhibition occupies all three galleries, and is the first time the PSA has held an exhibition outside Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

It is also one of the few occasions when all members of the Society were invited to submit up to three works apiece to one of the group’s exhibitions.<\/p>\n

The result is a wide-ranging showcase of 35 PSA members’ work covering themes as diverse as landscapes, portraiture and nature.<\/p>\n

  • The Pastel Society of Australia Members Exhibition will remain on display at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily (excluding Christrmas Day) until February 2nd. Admission to view the exhibition is free.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
