Applications for Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s next round of community grants will open earlier than normal on January 1.<\/p>\n

Cr Geoff McDonald said community and not-for-profit groups were welcome to apply for funding to assist their project or event.<\/p>\n

Applications must be lodged by February 3, 2020.<\/p>\n

Cr McDonald said the regular application schedule had been brought forward to allow Council to review and finalise successful grant applications before the March 28, 2020 local government election.<\/p>\n

He said the current funding program covered applications for the Sport and Recreation, Event Support, Community Support, Community Economic Development, Environment, Cultural and Arts Support and Sports Tourism grants.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said the Community Economic Development Grants would be capped at $5000 for each application, with a yearly limit of two grants per applicant.<\/p>\n

Residents can call 13-18-72 to arrange a consultation with relevant staff from early January to arrange for help with tailoring grant proposals.<\/p>\n

The competitive review process means not all projects can be fully funded.<\/p>\n

The current grant round is expected to be presented for approval by Council at its February 2020 meeting.<\/p>\n
