Another large ute-load of Christmas donations left at Kingaroy Police Station and at Bill Hull Car Centre was handed over on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The items will be distributed to families across the region by South Burnett CTC Youth and Family Services.<\/p>\n

South Burnett CTC CRO Nina Temperton said there were “hundreds and hundreds” of families across the South Burnett who needed help at present.<\/p>\n

And there were probably hundreds of people “flying under the radar” who do not ask for help.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said he had been blown away by the local response to the Commissioner’s Food Appeal.<\/p>\n

He said the aim had been to get eight tonnes of donations across Queensland, but a tonne had been raised in the South Burnett alone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As well, there had been donations of vouchers and cash.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Tierney said a couple had come into the station asking if there were any gaps that needed to be filled.<\/p>\n

“We said we hadn’t received many items for babies,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They came back with $700 worth of nappies and formula.”<\/p>\n

Although the appeal is officially over, items to assist local families can still be left at Kingaroy Police Station or Bill Hull Car Centre.<\/p>\n
