Cherbourg Council issued a \u201cboil water alert\u201d on Tuesday following issues with the chlorine dosing at the town’s water treatment plant.<\/p>\n

A Council alert said all tap water used for drinking for drinking should be boiled until further notice.<\/p>\n

This is the second time this year that a “boil water alert” has been issued in Cherbourg; a similar warning was published in July.<\/p>\n

\u201cCherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council is working closely with Queensland Health to resolve this situation,\u201d the latest statement from the Council said.<\/p>\n

“The boil water alert will stay in effect until Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council and Queensland Health are confident there is no longer a public health concern.<\/p>\n

“Regular updates will be provided to the community.<\/p>\n

“Consuming unboiled drinking water could lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (eg. those who are very young, elderly or immune-compromised).<\/p>\n

“If you are concerned about your health, contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), your local doctor or local hospital.<\/p>\n

“Residents should bring water to the boil and then allow it to cool before using it. Boiled water can be stored in a clean, closed container for later use.”<\/p>\n
