A driver allegedly turned off his headlights and sped away from police in Kingaroy after they attempted to pull him over in the early hours of Saturday morning – and then tried to blame a man in jail for the incident.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said police tried to intercept the Ford sedan on River Road about 1:20am.<\/p>\n

“The driver turned off the headlights, accelerated heavily away from police and failed to indicate at several intersections,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.<\/p>\n

“Police abandoned the attempt to intercept due to the behaviour of the driver.”<\/p>\n

Police later attended the registered address of the vehicle where they spoke to a 21-year-old North Lakes man.<\/p>\n

The man allegedly supplied police with the name of the driver, nominating a person who was in prison, before\u00a0admitting he was the driver.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 6, charged with driving without due care and attention, driving while on a late-night driving restriction and providing false information.<\/p>\n

  • December 11<\/strong> – Police attended an Alford Street, Kingaroy, home at 2:10pm in relation to another matter. While there, they allegedly located a 23-year-old Kingaroy man in possession of drugs and drug utensils.\u00a0The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 6.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • December 12<\/strong> – A 24-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 6 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and a drug utensil after police stopped a Ford sedan in Haly Street, Kingaroy,\u00a0 about 12:25am. A\u00a0search allegedly located amphetamine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • December 9<\/strong> – A 37-year-old Tarong man\u00a0will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 6 charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with false plates after police stopped a Holden ute on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road about 8:35am. The interception took place after a complaint regarding the man’s driving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • December 10<\/strong> –\u00a0 A 38-year-old Taabinga man\u00a0will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 20 charged with unlicensed driving after police intercepted a Mercedes sedan on Julie Street, Taabinga,\u00a0 about 4:50pm, after a complaint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • December 12<\/strong> – Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a Toyota ute travelling east on Haly Street, Kingaroy, and a Toyota travelling north on Jarrah Street collided about 3:00pm. Police allege the\u00a023-year-old driver of the Toyota failed to give way to the other vehicle, driven by an 86-year-old Wondai man. Both were transported to hospital. Investigations are continuing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • December 12<\/strong> –\u00a0A 36-year-old Gatton woman\u00a0will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 13 charged with drug driving, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving an unroadworthy vehicle after\u00a0police stopped a Hyundai sedan in Knight Street, Kingaroy, at 5:35pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • December 15<\/strong> –\u00a0Police from the Dalby Road Policing Unit, conducting mobile radar patrol on Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Ballogie, spotted a learner driver – without “L” plates – travelling at 154km\/h in the 100km\/h zone.\u00a0He received total fines of $1458, lost 10 demerit points and will be off the road for six months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                • December 17<\/strong> –\u00a0 Police from the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit, operating a speed camera, detected a local resident travelling at more than twice the speed limit along Haly Street, Kingaroy. Police allegedly clocked the driver at 127km\/h in the 60km\/h zone. The owner will soon receive a $1245 fine and well as losing eight demerit points and a six-month licence suspension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Kingaroy police responded to a variety of incidents between December 9-15 including drug and traffic offences. They also attended seven calls related to domestic violence, issued 42 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 94 roadside breath tests.<\/p>\n
