Bendigo Bank’s Blackbutt community branch celebrated its 10th birthday on Friday morning, but the organisation made sure it was the local community which received the present.<\/p>\n

Bank representatives presented an automated defibrillator to local business owner Angie Norris, who will house the unit at her Blackbutt Fuel and Tyres business in Coulson Street.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Community Enterprises Ltd chairman Lionel Kerr and branch manager Lorraine Wyvill handed over the potentially life-saving device.<\/p>\n

Lorraine said the donation was in line with Bendigo’s philosophy of giving to the community “but we hope it doesn’t get used”.<\/p>\n

Lionel said he could remember when the branch opened 10 years ago.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully, we have made quite a contribution in the community since then,” he said.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Community Enterprises Ltd also operates Bendigo community branches in Yarraman and Nanango, as well as agencies in Wondai and Murgon.<\/p>\n

“Over the past 14 years, the company has put more than a million dollars back into the community,” he said.<\/p>\n

“And the more customers that bank here, the more we have to give back.”<\/p>\n

The birthday cake was cut by former Bendigo employee and long-time community bank supporter Judy Robison, from Blackbutt.<\/p>\n
