Several bushfires were still burning around the South Burnett region on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The fire danger rating for the Wide Bay Burnett and Darling Downs regions has eased from “Severe” to “Very High” but conditions are still dangerous and local fire bans remain in place for the South Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie, North Burnett, Toowoomba, Somerset and Western Downs council areas.<\/p>\n

At 12:15pm, the Brisbane Valley Highway was still closed near Wivenhoe Dam after bushfires ripped through the region on Friday and Saturday, but diversions were in place.<\/p>\n

At 2:00pm, Somerset Regional Council said its crews had completed works on the Brisbane Valley Highway and the road was now open, but with reduced speed between Wivenhoe Somerset Road and Hay Road.<\/p>\n

Mount Stanley<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

At 10:50am, QFES renewed their “Stay Informed: Advice” warning for a fire burning in the Mount Stanley area, north-east of Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At one stage on Friday, this fire was threatening campers at Landcruiser Mountain Park and authorities issued a “Leave Now” warning.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, QFES said anyone who had left the area should not return until advised it was safe to do so.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were working with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service crews and local landholders to contain the fire.<\/p>\n

Properties were not under direct threat but the area was still unsafe.<\/p>\n

Campers and residents were asked to listen to the advice of authorities and call Triple Zero (000) immediately if they believed they were under threat.<\/p>\n

Woolooga<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The fire started by a car crash last week on Brooweena-Woolooga Road, north of Woolooga, was still burning on Sunday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 9:35am, QFES said the fire was burning safely within containment lines and there was no threat to property at this time.<\/p>\n

Firefighters will continue to monitor the fire and strengthen containment lines over the next few days.<\/p>\n

Brooweena-Woolooga Road is still closed following the collapse of Running Creek Bridge.<\/p>\n
