One lucky person will be driving away in a new car … while flood-affected South Burnett residents will be getting some much-needed assistance, all thanks to Huston Motors and the Mayor’s Red Earth Flood Appeal.<\/p>\n

Huston Motors dealer principal\u00a0Mark Huston stunned South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann recently when he rang up and offered a Nissan Micra,\u00a0valued at $15,990, to the appeal.<\/p>\n

The car will be raffled and all funds raised will be donated to South Burnett residents affected by the Australia Day weekend floods.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. A book of 10 tickets is $20.<\/p>\n

They will be available at council offices throughout the South Burnett, the Huston dealerships in Kingaroy and Murgon, the Nanango markets, participating businesses, and at various functions.<\/p>\n

The prize will be drawn on June 1 by former Nine Network newsreader Heather Foord at the Mayor’s Charity Ball which will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/p>\n

The Nissan Micra is on display this week in Kingaroy Shoppingworld.<\/p>\n

“This is one of the best ways I could think of to make an impact to help the appeal,” Mark Huston told southburnett.com.au today.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It’s all about putting back into the local community. The community has supported us and it’s our way of helping the local community at this time of need.”<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said it was a magnificent gesture.<\/p>\n

“I’m over the moon,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It has really kick-started the fundraising.”<\/p>\n

The art union is being supported by Kingaroy Rotary which has also been assisting with the breakfasts at the flood recovery meetings around the region.<\/p>\n

UPDATE March 1:<\/strong> Ticket sellers won’t be at the Nanango Markets tomorrow, but they will be at Kingaroy Shoppingworld.<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett cricketer Holly Ferling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett cricket star Holly Ferling is a new addition to the guest list for the Mayor’s Red Earth Flood Appeal Breakfast which will be held on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ferling accepted an invitation from South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann on Monday to appear at the breakfast alongside former Test cricketer and current Queensland Bulls coach Darren Lehmann.<\/p>\n

Ferling recently played with the Australian Women\u2019s Cricket Team in four World Cup games in India where she took nine wickets. She also played in a warm-up match against the West Indies.<\/p>\n

The Mayoral Breakfast will be held at the Town Common Hall in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $35, and only a few remain. They can be booked by phoning Bronwyn Barry on (07) 4189-9155.<\/p>\n

CROW-FM 90.7 is looking for more prizes for their Radiothon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

* * * <\/strong><\/center>CROW-FM 90.7 is looking for extra prize donations for their Flood Appeal Radiothon, which is being held on Sunday, March 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The radiothon is a fundraiser for the Mayor’s Red Earth Flood Appeal, and the station has lined up lots of great prizes already.<\/p>\n

However, to raise as much money as possible, the station would like to involve as many South Burnett businesses as possible, too.<\/p>\n

If businesses don’t have any items they can donate as prizes, the radio station has suggested $10, $20 or $50 gift vouchers instead – either from an individual business, or in combination with other businesses.<\/p>\n

“Gift vouchers are great because they bring a new customer to you and you’ve also made a donation,” a CROW-FM spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“It doesn’t have to be huge – every little bit adds up.”<\/p>\n
