Firefighters are strengthening containment lines around a bushfire burning north of Woolooga.<\/p>\n

At 9:15am on Wednesday, QFES said\u00a0Brooweena-Woolooga Road was closed in both directions at Running Creek Bridge and smoke may be affecting the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The bridge has been badly damaged in the blaze, with video posted online showing portions of the wooden structure on fire.<\/p>\n

At 1:20pm, 12 fire crews were at the scene.<\/p>\n

At 5:10pm, QFES said firefighters were continuing to monitor the fire and strengthen containment lines.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday:

Firefighters were called just after noon on Tuesday to a bushfire burning near Brooweena-Woolooga Road, north of Woolooga.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire was sparked by a car crash at Running Creek Bridge.<\/p>\n

The three occupants of the vehicle – believed to be tourists – were taken to Gympie Hospital for observation.<\/p>\n

At 2:50pm, QFES issued an “Advice” alert for the fire (see below).<\/p>\n

At 3:00pm, 18 fire units were at the incident.<\/p>\n

The QFES said properties were not under direct threat.<\/p>\n

QFES crews remain on scene at a bushfire burning in the vicinity of Brooweena-Woolooga Road. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fire crews will monitor the blaze overnight and work to strengthen containment lines tomorrow morning. Smoke may affect the surrounding areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
