Calista Walters … will be singing carols in Nanango on December 14<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nanango\u2019s “little cathedral in the bush” is welcoming back home soprano Calista Walters this Christmas for a special performance of carols on Saturday, December 14.<\/p>\n

Calista attended St Patrick’s Primary and Nanango State High School before moving to Sydney to pursue her music career.<\/p>\n

She has since performed around the world and with Opera Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter how far away I am, my home town of Nanango is never far from my thoughts and I\u2019m incredibly excited to be performing there for Christmas this year,\u201d Calista said.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s important to give back to community and professional performers so rarely come out to our region, my mission is to inspire a new love for the arts in regional south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe locals in Nanango have watched and supported my career thus far, and I\u2019m honoured that they\u2019ve welcomed me back to celebrate the holidays with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calista said she was thrilled to be performing again in the beautiful Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic church in Gipps Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This church is an incredible building and a wonderful performance space. The high ceilings allow the acoustics of the voice to flow effortlessly and it is a joy to get the chance to sing in there once again,” she said.<\/p>\n

Her 90-minute performance will also feature\u00a0Cassie Midgley as well as Toowoomba pianist Abi Bunch.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for concession. They are available at the Nanango Information Centre or cash only at the door.<\/p>\n

The concert will get under way at 7:00pm and will be followed by a cup of tea and cake.<\/p>\n
