The South Burnett’s frequent appearances on TV will be reduced after Channel 7 announced on Wednesday it will axe three popular Queensland lifestyle shows.<\/p>\n

Channel 7 has axed Creek To Coast, Queensland Weekender and The Great Day Out (formerly The Great South East) from the end of the year.<\/p>\n

TV crews from all three shows have been frequent visitors to the South Burnett, putting a spotlight on tourism businesses and local cuisine.<\/p>\n

The three programs\u00a0are among the longest-running on Australian television: The Great Day Out premiered 22 years ago, while Creek to Coast celebrated its 20th anniversary in August;
\nQueensland Weekender has aired for 16 years.<\/p>\n

Presenters and production staff were told of the decision on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Episodes already produced will be broadcast but no new episodes are planned.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Channel 7 network told media the free-to-air TV industry was facing a difficult time and the network was reallocating resources.<\/p>\n

Seven has also wound up its current affairs program Sunday Night, and this week announced Today Tonight editions in Perth and Adelaide are to be axed.<\/p>\n

Sydney Weekender, South Australia Weekender and The Great Weekend in Melbourne have also been discontinued.<\/p>\n
