Show societies in the South Burnett have until December 13 to apply for assistance under the Federal Government’s Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program.<\/p>\n

The grants – up to $500,000 – can be used to\u00a0upgrade, maintain, buy or build new showground infrastructure and attractions.<\/p>\n

There is $20 million available in the program across Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgricultural shows are part of our community identity,\u201d Member for Flynn Ken O\u2019Dowd said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur local shows have been running for decades and showcase the very best of our local produce that results from generations of tradition and know-how.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder the grants, eligible, regionally based show societies and agricultural show peak bodies can receive grants of up to $500,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grants can be used for repairs or upgrades of existing showground facilities such as outdoor seating, new infrastructure such as a grandstand, assets like portable sheep holding yards or attractions like an agricultural virtual reality exhibit.”<\/p>\n

The successful applicants are expected to be announced in the first half of 2020.<\/p>\n
