{"id":248988,"date":"2019-11-25T12:58:47","date_gmt":"2019-11-25T02:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=248988"},"modified":"2020-06-22T16:45:50","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T06:45:50","slug":"local-fire-bans-still-in-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2019\/11\/25\/local-fire-bans-still-in-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Local Fire Bans Still In Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_247794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-247794\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/mikewassing1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-247794\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/mikewassing1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-247794\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Acting QFES Commissioner<BR> Mike Wassing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>November 25, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0State of Fire Emergency Declaration has been revoked in Toowoomba and Somerset council areas.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration was lifted in the South Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie and North Burnett areas last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>However, although the State of Fire Emergency has been lifted, Local Fire Bans still remain in place in council areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie and North Burnett <\/strong>&#8211; Until 11:59pm on Sunday, December 8<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Toowoomba <\/strong>&#8211; Until 11:55pm on Saturday, November 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Somerset<\/strong> &#8211; Until 11:55pm on Friday, December 6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cOver the last few weeks our state has been in the grips of some very severe and challenging fire weather and while the threat has eased, it has not passed,\u201d Acting Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Mike Wassing said said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the State of Fire Emergency Declaration has been revoked, QFES has made the decision to impose local fire bans across large parts of the State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision is not made lightly but it is vital we continue to work together and do everything we can to protect Queensland communities during this ongoing bushfire season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder a local fire ban all open fires are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fire previously issued are cancelled.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Wassing thanked the Queensland community for their cooperation and support through what had been a prolonged and severe fire season so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhile conditions have eased slightly, and the bushfire danger has fallen as a result, we still have significant blazes that continue to burn,&#8221; he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the community for heeding the conditions in the Declaration and urge everyone to continue to abide by local fire bans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow is not the time to be complacent \u2013 conditions are still dry and there isn\u2019t significant rainfall expected in Queensland in the immediate future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask everyone to remain vigilant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave a bushfire survival plan in place, talk to your family about what you would do and where you would go if a bushfire were to threaten your home.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0State of Fire Emergency Declaration has been revoked in Toowoomba and Somerset council areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":247795,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3],"tags":[90],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
