Spring Fever hit Cherbourg in style at the recent Golden Oldies celebration.<\/p>\n

The annual event attracted about 250 people to the town’s community hall, many returning to Cherbourg just for the special get-together.<\/p>\n

Golden Oldies is for the over-50s only.<\/p>\n

It began when some community elders decided they were tired of only catching up with old friends at funerals so they decided to organise an event to celebrate life.<\/p>\n

This year’s celebration included lunch, dancing and lots of music.<\/p>\n

Muddy Flats, the Wakka Wakka dancers and the Badu Torres Strait Island dancers provided the official entertainment.<\/p>\n

Two familiar faces who also returned again were well-known country singers Roger Knox and Chad Morgan.<\/p>\n

The “Spring Fever” theme meant there were floral dresses in abundance in the brightly decorated hall.<\/p>\n

The Golden Oldies cake was cut by former Cherbourg mayor Ken Bone and Cherbourg resident Hazel Speedy.<\/p>\n

Aunty Sandra Morgan told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> Golden Oldies would be celebrating 30 years in 2020.<\/p>\n

“It will be a big weekend!” she said.<\/p>\n
