Non-perishable items can be left at the Wondai and Kingaroy police stations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

November 14, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wondai and Kingaroy police stations are registered drop-off points in the South Burnett for the 2019 Queensland Police Service\u00a0Christmas Foodbank Drive.<\/p>\n

The aim is to collect non-perishable food and essential items for families throughout Queensland experiencing hardship at Christmas time.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Katarina Carroll officially launched the drive at the QPS Academy on November 7.<\/p>\n

It will run until December 8.<\/p>\n

Foodbank is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation which acts as a pantry that local charities can approach for food to provide to families in need.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the third year that the QPS has partnered with Foodbank,<\/p>\n

Commissioner Carroll said food insecurity was a problem requiring a co-ordinated response from all Queenslanders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, our State has been heavily affected by weather disasters such as droughts, fires and floods,\u201d Commissioner Carroll said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur farming families are still recovering from these events.<\/p>\n

\u201cEighty-one police stations across the State have registered as a drop off point for the 2019 QPS Food Drive and with the assistance of members of the public, we hope to raise eight tonnes of food and spread Christmas cheer to our neighbours who are doing it tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Items can also be dropped off at the Bill Hull Car Centre in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
