November 10, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Firefighters were back in action on Sunday at the site of Saturday afternoon’s Premier Drive bushfire in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

QFES announced at 6:50pm on Saturday that the blaze – which had swept close to properties on Booie-Crawford Road and Schellbachs Road – had been contained.<\/p>\n

Roads that had been previously closed were re-opened to traffic but fire crews remained on site overnight to monitor the area.<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, winds whipped up the flames again, creating more smoke over Kingaroy but with nowhere near the drama of Saturday afternoon’s incident.<\/p>\n

At 4:25pm, QFES issued another Stay Informed alert for local residents, noting that firefighters were strengthening containment lines and would continue to monitor the area over Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Smoke from several other large fires added to the plumes that could be seen throughout the South Burnett on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were in action on Sunday protecting properties at Black Snake, near Kilkivan; and at Jimna and Monsildale (see separate reports, below).<\/p>\n

A reminder to all residents:\u00a0No external fires can be lit for any purpose in the South Burnett, Cherbourg, North Burnett, Gympie, Toowoomba, Somerset or Western Downs areas until further notice due to the high-risk conditions.<\/em><\/p>\n

The bushfire is burning between Schellbachs Road, Booie-Crawford Road and North Branch Road. The fire is currently contained and crews will continue to monitor the area.<\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke over the coming days, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Properties are not under direct threat at this time.<\/p>\n
