Local fire bans were invoked at 10:30am on Friday for the Toowoomba and Southern Downs council areas.<\/p>\n

This follows the forecast of Extreme Fire Danger in the Darling Downs, Granite Belt and South-East Coast areas.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba and Southern Downs bans are expected to remain in place until 23:59pm on Sunday (November 10).<\/p>\n

Fire bans in the South Burnett, Cherbourg, North Burnett and Gympie local council areas will remain in place at least until until 23:55pm next Friday (November 15).<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said heightened fire conditions were perfect for bushfires to ignite and spread quickly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under a local fire ban all open fires are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fire which have been issued in the designated areas have been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The Bureau of Meteorology said hot, dry, strong and gusty west to south-westerly winds had been predicted across the region.<\/p>\n

A Severe Fire Danger warning is current for the Wide Bay Burnett, Central Highlands, Maranoa and Warrego areas.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 4:18pm, Friday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Fire Weather Warning for the Wide Bay Burnett,\u00a0Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and South-Eeast Coast forecast districts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hot, dry, strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds are expected to maintain Extreme fire danger in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Districts, and Severe fire danger in the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego, and Wide Bay and Burnett Districts for the next few hours.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, hot, dry, fresh and gusty south to southwesterly winds are expected to produce Severe fire danger in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia, and Wide Bay and Burnett districts.<\/p>\n
