A $250,000 reward is being offered for information to help locate a Rockhampton man who was last seen six years ago near Chinchilla.<\/p>\n

Jason John Vance was last seen on October 24 in the Barakula State Forest, west of Durong, where he was camping with two friends.<\/p>\n

It is believed the 41-year-old walked off into the bushland and did not return.<\/p>\n

An extensive land and air search was launched, involving police and the SES.<\/p>\n

Police say his disappearance was out of character.<\/p>\n

South West District Detective Inspector Mat Kelly said it had been six years since Jason went missing and his family deserved answers.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone in the community knows something about Jason\u2019s disappearance,\u201d Det Insp Kelly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hoped with the passage of time and this reward and indemnity, this creates an opportunity for someone to come forward and provide police with the crucial piece of information.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact police.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

An indemnity from prosecution will be considered for anyone who comes forward with information who did not commit the crime.<\/p>\n

Det Insp Kelly said police were still actively investigating Jason\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are keeping an open mind in relation to the investigation,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We know Jason associated with various persons in the Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Dalby areas, so we are appealing to the community across these areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

An inquest in 2017 found that Jason was dead, with the cause of death undetermined.<\/p>\n
