events and activities the South Burnett Regional Council will be assisting with a grant this year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>October 29, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council will distribute almost $72,000 to 46 community groups in the first round of its 2019-20 Community Grants Program.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicants were announced at last week&#8217;s Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Council will provide $1000 to five hall committees to help cover their annual insurance costs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Booie Hall and Recreation Association<\/li>\n<li>Farmers Hall, Inverlaw<\/li>\n<li>Mondure Hall Committee<\/li>\n<li>Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum<\/li>\n<li>Tablelands Hall Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Council will also provide one-off sponsorship for the following projects: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blackbutt RSL &#8211; $3000 to erect flagpoles in Les Muller Park<\/li>\n<li>Hivesville Country Markets &#8211; $700 to beautify Hivesville&#8217;s sportsground with tree plantings<\/li>\n<li>Kingaroy Men&#8217;s Shed &#8211; $2101.15 for a dust extraction fan for the wood section<\/li>\n<li>Kumbia Kindergarten &#8211; $1000 for an educational gardening project for children<\/li>\n<li>Kumbia &amp; District Golf Club &#8211; $2558.80 for greens equipment to assist in maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Neighbourhood Watch &#8211; $750 for relocatable cameras for community use<\/li>\n<li>Proston Golf Club &#8211; $2000 for furniture and floor coverings<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett Working Equitation Group &#8211; $1000 for competition and training obstacles<\/li>\n<li>Taabinga Rotary Club &#8211; $1798 to purchase barbecues for use at community events<\/li>\n<li>Wondai Cricket Club &#8211; $549 to purchase a tablet for scoring<\/li>\n<li>Wondai &amp; District Town Band &#8211; $2000 to help the band attend local events and fundraisers<\/li>\n<li>Wondai QCWA &#8211; $2255 to install a new switchboard for the QCWA Rooms in an Ergon-approved location<\/li>\n<li>Wondai Town &amp; Rural Neighbourhood Watch &#8211; $750 for relocatable cameras for community use<\/li>\n<li>Wooroolin Lions Club &#8211; $1500 to record and illuminate Wooroolin&#8217;s history in Dalton Park<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Council will support the following community events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy Community Christmas Carols &#8211; $1924<\/li>\n<li>Kumbia Christmas Carnival &#8211; $1000<\/li>\n<li>Kumbia Race Club Melbourne Cup Meet &#8211; $2000<\/li>\n<li>Kumbia Tennis Association Open Day &#8211; $830<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Community Christmas Festival &#8211; $1500<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Easter Speggtacular 2020 &#8211; $500<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Police 2020 Charity Ball &#8211; $3000<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Show 2020 &#8211; $1400<\/li>\n<li>Nanango Campdraft 2020 &#8211; $1500<\/li>\n<li>Nanango Community Christmas Carnival &#8211; $2000<\/li>\n<li>Nanango RSL 100 Years Of Service event &#8211; $3000<\/li>\n<li>Nanango Waterhole Rocks &#8211; $1000<\/li>\n<li>Proston Lions Community Christmas Carnival &#8211; $1000<\/li>\n<li>Proston Pony Club 2019 Youth Camp &#8211; $1750<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett Multicultural Festival &#8211; $1500<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett 2020 Orchid Show &#8211; $500<\/li>\n<li>The Barbershop Boys&#8217; performances at local nursing homes &#8211; $1000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Four sports clubs will benefit from Healthy Communities sponsorships:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association &#8211; $3000 to purchase ball machines<\/li>\n<li>Murgon Cricket Club &#8211; $3000 to install a synthetic pitch<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett Junior Rugby League &#8211; $3000 for Beyond The Nest Development Camp in 2020<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett Little Athletics &#8211; $2544.90 to upgrade the discus facility to IAAF standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Council will sponsor three school awards nights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nanango State High School &#8211; $300<\/li>\n<li>Wondai State School &#8211; $300<\/li>\n<li>Yarraman P-9 State School &#8211; $200<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Through the Regional Arts Development Fund, Council will also support three projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creative Country Association &#8211; $1250 for a canvas making workshop<\/li>\n<li>Noosa Film Academy &#8211; $3000 for film-making workshops for Kingaroy and Murgon State High students<\/li>\n<li>South Burnett Community Orchestra &#8211; $3000 for a 2-day workshop that will result in a free community concert performing Beethoven&#8217;s Fifth Symphony<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communities Portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter said Council had received 57 applications requesting a total of $93,555 in the round.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The second and final round of 2019-20 community grants will open on February 1, 2020 and close on February 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Details about the different grants on
