October 24, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The latest South Burnett school music video produced by Josh Arnold was officially launched at the Kingaroy State High School speech night last week.<\/p>\n

“Red Dirt Canvas” highlights the diversity at the high school and spotlights the talented students from the school’s music and creative programs.<\/p>\n

The video joins a bunch of other school tributes made by Josh’s “Small Town Culture” project in the South Burnett, including music videos at Yarraman, Blackbutt, Wondai, Kilkivan and St John’s Lutheran school (see link, below).<\/p>\n

The many academic successes of KSHS students were also celebrated at the speech night.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker for the evening was former student\u00a0Troy Spence\u00a0who talked about his journey through life from school until today, and the lessons he has learned along the way.<\/p>\n

Mr Spence, who graduated in 1997, is now a barrister after years spent in the union movement as an organiser.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He spent almost a decade as District Secretary in the Australian Workers Union.<\/p>\n

Mr Spence presented the major awards of the evening to Junior Dux\u00a0Zane Harris and Senior Dux\u00a0Jude Davies.<\/p>\n

The school captains for 2020 were also announced:\u00a0Olivia Eriksen and Lachlan Hansen-Crawford (captains) and\u00a0Asha Cooper and\u00a0Toby Schmidt (vice-captains)<\/p>\n

Junior Captains are\u00a0Karl Macasaet and Jamaica Evangelista (captains), and Fletch Prendergast, Remy Favier, Jett Johnson and Pyper Connelly (vice-captains).<\/p>\n

The school’s next big celebration will be the Sports Night awards, held from 7:00pm on\u00a0Wednesday, October 30,\u00a0in the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (KPAC).<\/p>\n
