{"id":246241,"date":"2019-10-18T16:46:21","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T06:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=246241"},"modified":"2019-10-18T17:11:40","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T07:11:40","slug":"hit-and-run-driver-paroled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2019\/10\/18\/hit-and-run-driver-paroled\/","title":{"rendered":"Hit-And-Run Driver Paroled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>October 18, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 26-year-old Kingaroy man charged over a fatal hit-and-run on the New England Highway outside Yarraman on Christmas Day in 2017 walked free from Brisbane District Court on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Gavan Barry Blunt, who has been in custody since the incident, was sentenced to five years&#8217; jail by Judge David Reid but was granted immediate parole.<\/p>\n<p>Blunt pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle vehicle causing death, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.<\/p>\n<p>The court was told the 51-year-old victim of the hit-and-run, Christine Almond, was lying on the road when Blunt struck her in a stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Police were called to the incident, near the intersection of Tarong-Yarraman Road, about 11:40pm on December 25, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Blunt also pleaded guilty to unrelated charges of entering a dwelling with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Kingaroy man charged over a fatal hit-and-run on the New England Highway outside Yarraman on Christmas Day in 2017 walked free from Brisbane District Court on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":104807,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,24],"tags":[25,1132,176],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
