Kingaroy debaters travelled to Kilkivan on Sunday to take part in the Area Finals of the\u00a02019 Apex High School State Debating competition.<\/p>\n

In the Year 7\/8s category,\u00a0Kingaroy State High School took on\u00a0Fraser Coast Anglican College with the topic “That\u00a0single-sex schools provide better education opportunities for students”.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy team argued the negative case.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Apex Life Member John Box said\u00a0Fraser Coast had a close win.<\/p>\n

In the Junior category,\u00a0St Mary’s Catholic College Kingaroy also faced a team from\u00a0Fraser Coast Anglican College.<\/p>\n

They debated “That teenagers who have the freedom to make their own decisions, are more mature”.<\/p>\n

The St Mary’s team argued the affirmative case.<\/p>\n

John said Fraser Coast won on a split decision from the adjudicators.<\/p>\n

The Fraser Coast teams will now take part in the State Finals on October 26 at Apex Camp Mudjimba<\/p>\n

“Both South Burnett teams did an outstanding and credible job of representing our district,” John said.<\/p>\n

“They thanked their teachers, coaches, parents, supporters and Apex for the opportunity to compete in this most rewarding activity.”<\/p>\n
