The two main days of Yarraman’s annual town festival, the Colours of Yarraman, are on again this weekend.<\/p>\n

Both the 2017 and 2018 festivals were affected by rain, which prompted local resident Joe Stimpson to joke last year he was going to hire himself out in 2019 as a drought-breaker.<\/p>\n

You guessed it, the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a 95 per cent chance of rain for Saturday (not that anyone is really complaining …).<\/p>\n

The 2019 festival began on Thursday with Barefoot Bowls at the Yarraman Bowls Club, followed by a movie night on Friday at the Yarraman P-9 School hall.<\/p>\n

But the main day is always Saturday.<\/p>\n

It will get under way with the Yarraman Markets, at the corner of the D’Aguilar and New England highways, from 7:00am to noon.<\/p>\n

The focus then shifts down to Station Park, at the head of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, for “Tunes On The Tracks” from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitors will be encouraged to relax, chat and enjoy some good music while having a drink from the licensed bar.<\/p>\n

Entry is by gold coin donation and long tables will be set. BYO chair and a plate of food to share.<\/p>\n

There’ll be prizes for the Best Dressed Male and Female, as well as raffles and family entertainment including Giant Jenga, Giant Chess and Connect 4.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the winners of the annual gardening competition will be announced with a High Tea at the Yarraman Memorial Hall from 9:30am.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker will be well-known Toowoomba horticulturalist Brian Sams and judge Robert Campbell will explain why he selected each winner.<\/p>\n

Maps to enable visitors to do self-drive tours of the winning gardens on Sunday afternoon will be available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
