Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has launched a new School Leavers Bursary to help support students in her electorate who are pursuing further study after Year 12.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said many Year 12 school leavers had to travel, or move to major centres, to access further education and this bursary was designed to help with those costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is always a major step for our Year 12 school leavers who must travel away for university, TAFE or other training and I wanted to show my support through a special Year 12 School Leavers Bursary,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bursary is worth $1000 and aims to provide financial assistance with the costs associated with moving to their place of learning, the purchase of books, IT, tools or other necessary requirements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis inaugural bursary is now open to Year 12 students who live within the Nanango Electorate.”<\/p>\n

Applications will close at the end of January 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cFive applicants will be shortlisted and the successful recipient will be selected after a panel interview in early February,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis bursary provides me with an opportunity to show my support for young people who are passionate about furthering their skills and education, and who may not otherwise be able to afford to live away from home.”<\/p>\n
