A voluntary program for beef producers aimed at providing certified quality assurance will be launched in the South Burnett on Thursday (October 10).<\/p>\n

Healthy Beef Burnett is an initiative of the South Burnett Grazing Network.<\/p>\n

It will be officially launched at a special function in the White Room at Kingaroy RSL Club from 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

The project aims to provide assurance to customers – meat consumers, cattle processors and breeders – of the integrity of animals and meat originating from participating beef herds.<\/p>\n

It will cover animal health and welfare, weeds, pest animals, feed and water supply.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett Grazing Network says participants will undertake annual self-auditing.<\/p>\n

They will be encouraged to liaise with other producers in the program, Biosecurity Queensland and their vets to share information about local biosecurity risks.<\/p>\n

Healthy Beef Burnett is supported by both the State and Federal Agriculture departments.<\/p>\n

The self-assessed quality assurance program will be based on monitoring of the health of livestock and facilities.<\/p>\n

The program’s co-ordinator will issue a Statement of Participation every year to producers after inspecting records of the monitoring undertaken.<\/p>\n
