Wondai firefighters hosted an open day on Saturday morning to let the public get a peek behind the scenes at their station in Mackenzie Street.<\/p>\n

Visitors had the opportunity to look inside the station and chat to firefighters as well as inspecting Wondai’s “compressed air foam system” (CAFS) fire engine, which is just a year old.<\/p>\n

Acting Inspector Bruce Groer, the Acting Area Commander for QFES Kingaroy Command, said the CAFS truck was an example of the latest technology which is being rolled out to fire stations across Queensland.<\/p>\n

There are 11 auxiliary firefighters based in Wondai.<\/p>\n

The theme for the Open Day was \u201cStronger Together\u201d and lots of tips about how to prepare for an emergency were available.<\/p>\n

“Get Ready” guides with information about storms, floods, cyclones and bushfires were being handed out, as well as information about how to prepare a bushfire survival plan.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt Fire Station also hosted an open day on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
