Dairy Museum volunteer Wanda Rideout is hoping crowds turn out to support the museum on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 25, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The volunteers at the Murgon Dairy and Heritage Museum are working hard this week in the lead-up to Saturday … their biggest day of the year.<\/p>\n

The annual Country Fair will feature food and market stalls, horse and cart rides plus children’s activities from 9:00am to 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be Devonshire teas and spinning demonstrations.<\/p>\n

Volunteer Wanda Rideout said the annual event was the Dairy Museum’s major fundraiser so they were hoping the community would come along and support it.<\/p>\n

All the historic buildings and displays will be open to explore, including dairy memorabilia and a large display of lapidary and semi-precious gemstones.<\/p>\n

Local schoolchildren have been invited to create scarecrows for a competition which will be judged by Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff.<\/p>\n

The historic buildings on site include the original ‘Castra’ (the first home built in Murgon); the former Hivesville Anglican Church, ‘Trinity’ homestead (built in 1893) and Madeline’s Manor school room.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There’s also an original railway box wagon, built in 1910, and multiple displays linked to the cattle and dairy industries.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Murgon Dairy and Heritage Museum is located on the corner of Gayndah Road and Sommerville Street (opposite the Murgon saleyards)<\/p>\n

Entry is $5 for adults and $3 for high school students. Children 12 and under are free.<\/p>\n
