The electricity market mightn’t \u00a0be the strongest at the moment but that hasn’t stopped Tarong Power Station continuing to plan for the future, with five new apprentices and one trainee starting work this week.<\/p>\n

Site Manager Dennis Franklin said said three of the apprentices and the trainee were young people from the local community while two mature-age apprentices had moved with their families to the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cTarong Power Station warmly welcomes these new people who are very enthusiastic about their new roles,\u201d Mr Franklin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a long-term commitment to the South Burnett region and our latest intake of apprentices and our trainee demonstrates this.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese new starters will develop top-level skills under the eye of power station employees who are experts in their field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Tarong Power Station people are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Ty Snow<\/strong>, Nanango, Nanango State High School leaver 2012, electrical apprentice<\/li>\n
  • David Vorpagel<\/strong>, Kingaroy, Kingaroy State High School leaver 2007, electrical apprentice<\/li>\n
  • Daniel Peter<\/strong>, Kingaroy, St Mary\u2019s Catholic College Kingaroy leaver 2010, boiler maker apprentice<\/li>\n
  • Rebecca Downie<\/strong>, Nanango, Nanango State High School leaver 2012, business administration trainee<\/li>\n
  • Craig Larson<\/strong>, Maryborough, adult mechanical fitter\/turner apprentice<\/li>\n
  • Shane Hall<\/strong>, Townsville, adult mechanical fitter\/turner apprentice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mr Franklin said Tarong Power Station took pride in giving Queenslanders skills that would benefit them for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

    \u201cAnd they will be trained in Stanwell\u2019s strong safety culture that gives the very highest priority to keeping them safe at work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
