More than 55 primary producers have registered with the South Burnett Regional Council to get assistance from BlazeAid.<\/p>\n

BlazeAid and the South Burnett Regional Council have combined forces to help clean up farms and mend the many fences destroyed after the Australia Day weekend floods.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil welcomes BlazeAid\u2019s help. We worked closely with BlazeAid after the 2011 floods and the assistance from their volunteers made a world of difference to our primary producers,\u201d natural resources spokesperson Cr Kathy Duff said.<\/p>\n

In 2011 BlazeAid assisted 35 South Burnett properties and completed 583 days of work with 109 registered volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a lot of work to do to help farmers affected by the floods. We will need more volunteers this year as we have already a large number of primary producers who have registered,\u201d Cr\u00a0Duff said.<\/p>\n

Cr Duff and SBRC \u00a0Manager of Natural Resources and Parks Greg Griffiths welcomed BlazeAid co-ordinators Paul and Alison Mortenson from NSW to the region and thanked them for their help.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaul and Alison will be co-ordinating the volunteers from the Bunya Wakka Wakka building in Murgon. Council would like to publicly thank the Bunya Wakka Wakka Board for allowing the building to be used for this purpose,\u201d Cr Duff said.<\/p>\n

Mr Griffiths said the\u00a0South Burnett Regional Council had been working in conjunction with Gympie Regional Council to have BlazeAid based in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
