Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary members had the opportunity on Friday to view the new\u00a0Optiflow Thrive Machine\u00a0for anaesthetics which they helped to purchase,<\/p>\n

Auxiliary president Alison Murray said the $4200 machine was bought from funds raised by the auxiliary from running Kingaroy Hospital’s canteen, as well as a generous donation from Taabinga Rotary Club from their annual Bookarama.<\/p>\n

\u201cKingaroy Hospital Auxiliary also recently donated four TVs to Kingaroy Hospital for patient use,” Auxiliary treasurer Peter Mortimer said.<\/p>\n

“And the Auxiliary will be funding further equipment on order for the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Isaac Hohaia and Mr Simon McDonald, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, said the Optiflow Thrive Machine was “a game changer”, enabling Kingaroy anaesthetic staff to deliver high-flow oxygen during anaesthetics.<\/p>\n

Use of the high flow oxygen machine improves patient safety, facilitates rapid recovery from anaesthetics and assists with patient care during both the theatre and recovery phase.<\/p>\n

\u201cKingaroy Hospital is very fortunate to have the Optiflow Thrive Machine – very few rural hospitals have such equipment for anaesthetic procedures,” Mr McDonald said.<\/p>\n

“The machine is gentle on patients and helps them recover faster after surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n
