UPDATE 1:30pm:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE<\/p>\n

At 1:30pm Sunday, a fire is burning near Kingaroy-Cooyar Road and Old Taabinga Road, Goodger.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are working with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service crews to strengthen containment lines.<\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.<\/p>\n

September 6, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fifteen fire crews were called to a large grass fire which broke out alongside Kingaroy-Cooyar Road at Goodger on Friday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The blaze was reported to emergency services about 2:25pm.<\/p>\n

At 4:45pm, a QFES spokesperson said the fire was about 80 per cent contained although the windy conditions were making the job difficult.<\/p>\n

The fire, which spread smoke across Kingaroy, is believed to have started alongside Kingaroy-Cooyar Road, south of the intersection with Old Taabinga Road.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0then travelled in a south-easterly direction.<\/p>\n

The strong winds and partially inaccessible terrain hampered efforts to control the flames.<\/p>\n

At one point, sparks ignited a small area of land on the western side of Kingaroy-Cooyar Road but this was quickly brought under control and extinguished.<\/p>\n

Both urban and rural units were called to the incident.<\/p>\n

A water tanker was refilling fire trucks at the scene.<\/p>\n

At 4:30pm, an area of about 30ha was believed to have been burned out.<\/p>\n

Firefighters will be monitoring the area over the weekend.<\/p>\n

QFES has extended a local fire ban through to 23:59hrs on Sunday (September 8) for residents in the Gympie, North Burnett, South Burnett and Cherbourg council areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Firefighters have been battling flames at a number of other nearby fires on Friday:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

An “Advice” warning was issued by the QFES to Linville residents at 3:20pm because of a bushfire burning near George and Wells streets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire was travelling in a southerly direction and affecting Linville Road with smoke.<\/p>\n

No properties were under direct threat.<\/p>\n

A dozen fire units were at the incident.<\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> At 7:45pm, firefighters were no longer required at this incident.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A “Watch and Act” warning was issued at 3:45pm by the QFES for a fire burning at Hawkswood, south of Mundubbera.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This fast-moving fire was travelling in a south-easterly direction from Barbours Road and New Cadarga Road towards Monogorilby.<\/p>\n

At 4:48pm, fire crews were working to contain the fire with 10 crews on site.<\/p>\n

At 6:05pm, QFES renewed the Watch and Act warning and said conditions could get worse.<\/p>\n

The fire was still travelling south-easterly from Barbours Road and New Cadarga Road towards Monogorilby.<\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> At 10:00pm, the warning level was reduced to “Advice”. Fire crews will remain on scene overnight.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At 2:40pm, QFES fire crews and HQ Plantation crews working to contain a bushfire burning near Glastonbury Creek Road, Glastonbury.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire broke out earlier on Friday and was posing no threat to property.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At 4:30pm, QFES advised there was a bushfire near Burra Burri.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A fire burning in the Barakula State Forest was travelling in a south-easterly direction towards Burra Burri.<\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n
