Gympie Regional Council is urging Goomeri residents to conserve water while upgrades are carried out at the local water treatment plant.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said that following the failure last week of the main bore that delivers water to Goomeri, two auxiliary bores were also found to be inoperable.<\/p>\n

“Currently, Goomeri\u2019s water reservoir is holding at 60 per cent,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Work has commenced to return to source water from the nearby Kinbombi weir.<\/p>\n

“However, in order for this option to be viable, work is needed at Goomeri\u2019s water treatment plant.<\/p>\n

“It is anticipated this work will be complete by the end of the week.<\/p>\n

“Council will continue to cart water in to Goomeri to provide a supplementary water supply for as long as needed.<\/p>\n

“Council is urging Goomeri residents to be mindful of the amount of water they are using and that Level 3 restrictions still apply.<\/p>\n

“The target daily usage is 180 litres per person, per day.”<\/p>\n
