Nanango country music singer Amber Goldsmith\u00a0is “absolutely stoked” with her success at the annual Garden City Country Music Festival held in Oakey at weekend.<\/p>\n

Not only did she come first in the songwriting category with “Fireseason Again”, her song also took out the major “Best Australian Song” award over the whole weekend of competition.<\/p>\n

“Fireseason Again” is taken from Amber’s latest CD “Life’s A Test”.<\/p>\n

Life has certainly been a test this year for the amazingly talented Nanango singer.<\/p>\n

Her father, rural firefighter Brendon Goldsmith, 57, suddenly collapsed and died during a public presentation in Nanango in February. His funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners from across Queensland.<\/p>\n

Amber has been working through the tragedy while at the same time working on songs for her next album.<\/p>\n

She also did well in other competitions at Oakey, including:<\/p>\n

  • 2nd – Variety Act – “Country Roads” and “To Her Door”<\/li>\n
  • 2nd – Country Rock – “Let ‘Er Rip”<\/li>\n
  • 2nd – Gospel – “Three Wooden Crosses”<\/li>\n
  • 2nd – Duet with Amanda Faulkner – “Driving My Life Away”<\/li>\n
