It’s crunch time for the South Burnett Rugby League with a big day of junior and senior games scheduled at Murgon on Saturday.<\/p>\n

There’ll be Major and Minor Semi-Finals played in U12s, U14s and A Grade plus a key Under 16s game for the Mustangs.<\/p>\n

The winners of the Major Semi-Finals will earn a spot in their respective Grand Finals, while the losers will play the winners of the Minor Semi-Finals next weekend.<\/p>\n

The season will be over for the losers of the Minor Semi-Finals.<\/p>\n

The annual Pink Day is always a big one for the Kingaroy Red Ants Club … a minute’s silence was held before the start of the A Grade game last Saturday to remember those lost to cancer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Grade<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Murgon Mustangs finished on top of the Senior ladder with 26 points after winning 13 of their 15 games this season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In second place was Cherbourg (18), followed by Kingaroy (12) and Wondai (4).<\/p>\n

Kingaroy will play Wondai in the Minor Semi at 2:00pm, followed by Murgon playing Cherbourg in the Major Semi at 3:45pm.<\/p>\n

Both games should be fascinating to watch.<\/p>\n

Murgon just held on to defeat Cherbourg 32-30 last week in the final round of the competition, while the Kingaroy Red Ants marked their “Pink Day” cancer fundraising round by downing a spirited Wondai 52-40 after the Wolves enjoyed a very strong second half.<\/p>\n

Hannah Frohloff, Sharon Young, Linda Weekes and Candice Braithwaite were raising money for the Cancer Council by selling raffle tickets and pink cupcakes at the Red Ants’ “Pink Day” … the prize was an autographed Broncos jersey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Under 16s<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

At 12:55pm, Murgon will be playing second-placed Souths in the last round of the\u00a0Toowoomba JRL Under 16s competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mustangs are currently in third spot on the ladder.<\/p>\n

This is a key game for Murgon to decide semi-final places.<\/p>\n

The final make-up of the top four will also hinge on the result of the game between fourth and fifth-placed Dalby and Brothers which will be played in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

Under 14s<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Nanango and Murgon finished on top of the ladder with 26 points, with the Stags taking out the Minor Premiership on for\/against.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chinchilla and Wondai each earned 12 points, with Chinchilla ahead.<\/p>\n

Chinchilla will play Wondai in the Minor Semi at 10:25am, followed by Nanango playing Murgon in the Major Semi at 11:40am.<\/p>\n

Under 12s<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Kingaroy finished on top of the ladder with 25 points followed by Nanango (22), Murgon (15) and Wondai (10).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon will play Wondai in the Minor Semi at 8:30am, followed by Kingaroy playing Nanango in the Major Semi at 9:30am.<\/p>\n

SB Eagles – Women<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

South Burnett Eagles women’s teams – U12s, U14s and U17s – will be taking part in a Gala Day on Sunday at Brothers Rugby League ground in Toowoomba.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each team will play four times:<\/p>\n

  • Unders 12s will play Valleys (10:00am), Gatton (11:00am), Brothers (noon) and Highfields (1:20pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Under 14s will play Souths (9:20am), Oakey (10:20am), Dalby (12:20pm) and Gatton (1:20pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Under 17s will play Pittsworth (9:40am), Valleys (10:20am), Dalby (11:40am) and Oakey \/ Souths (1:00pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The top four teams from U14s and U17s on the Gala Day will play off in the Preliminary Finals on September 7 to decide the teams for the Grand Finals on September 14.<\/p>\n

        SB Eagles – Under 18s\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

        For the record, the South Burnett Eagles just missed out on earning a spot in the semi-finals in the Toowoomba JRL Under 18s men’s competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

        The Eagles finished in sixth place on the ladder despite a thumping 52-22 win against Pittsworth in the final round played on August 10.<\/p>\n
