Residents can explore the new $1.6 billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing when it opens for a special community day on Saturday, September 7.<\/p>\n

Transport Minister Mark Bailey encouraged locals and visitors to register for the historic event before the road officially opens traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an opportunity to get up close to this mammoth project that will transform the region,\u201d Mr Bailey said.<\/p>\n

“Thousands of locals have worked hard to bring this project to life, and this is about celebrating what they\u2019ve achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n

People will have the chance to walk from the Mort Street Interchange to the western end of the Viaduct.<\/p>\n

The Community Open Day will run from 11:00am to 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

There will be a variety of community food and information stalls, as well as vintage cars from local clubs on display.<\/p>\n

From there, visitors can also choose to experience the 800m viaduct, taking in the incredible outlook over the Lockyer Valley.<\/p>\n

There is limited space so for public safety the only access to the event will be by TransLink buses, through park’n’ride facilities, which will be run from two locations in Toowoomba.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pre-registration for the park’n’ride is required through Eventbrite<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitors can select from either a Central or Western pick-up point.<\/p>\n

The central point is located at the Neil Street Bus Exchange, giving visitors access to the vast array of council car parks throughout the central business district.<\/p>\n

The western point will be located at Charlton Speedway which offers visitors lots of easy parking and a quick bus route to the event site.<\/p>\n

To help with organising a successful day, pre-registration will be required.<\/p>\n

Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and hats, bring drink bottles and apply sunscreen.<\/p>\n
