Kingaroy Country Motel manager Julie Thomson will be running an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner and breakfast next week for locals and visitors who want to get into the Baconfest spirit on a budget<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Visitors coming to Kingaroy for this year’s BaconFest in search of a special dining experience – and locals who want to enjoy the Festival on a budget – still have time to book tickets for two dining events.<\/p>\n

On Friday, August 23, the Kingaroy Country Motel in Knight Street will be hosting an all-you-can-eat, three course Bacon Feast Buffet, complete with live entertainment from Fitzy, several amusements and a licensed bar.<\/p>\n

And on Sunday, August 25 the motel will be offering a sumptuous Bacon Grill Pig Trough Breakfast that would compare with any good big country breakfast.<\/p>\n

Both the dinner and breakfast are the brainchild of Kingaroy Country Motel’s manager Julie Thomson, and they’ll both be prepared by Judy Crawford from JC Catering.<\/p>\n

Julie, the secretary of the Visit South Burnett local tourism organisation, is no stranger to promoting events. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Her motel’s signboards regularly advise passing motorists about when the region’s next big events are coming up.<\/p>\n

Right now they’re promoting Kingaroy’s BaconFest, Moffatdale’s Italian Festival and Blackbutt’s Avocado Festival<\/p>\n

Julie said she thought it was important local businesses supported local events.<\/p>\n

“The success of an event relies on local support, so it is important to work together,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Tourism provides a constant stream of income for many businesses in our region and it supports lots of jobs.<\/p>\n

“So I think any event that brings visitors to town is a good thing, and I’m all for it.”<\/p>\n

Julie said she was aware prices for BaconFest’s Wine and Swine grazing platter dinner and long table breakfast had drawn criticism in some circles because of high ticket prices.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So the Kingaroy Country Motel is offering a $58 dinner and $32 breakfast to provide options for festival-goers.<\/p>\n

“We all want visitors to our region to have a great time so they’ll tell their friends and come back again, and we don’t want to lose that opportunity by pricing them anyone out,” Julie said.<\/p>\n

“It’s important to cater for all and give a variety of options to suit as many people as possible.<\/p>\n

“So we’re trying to bridge that gap for visitors, and create great value alternatives for locals as well.”<\/p>\n

Tickets for the Bacon Feast Buffet will close on Sunday, August 18, and the Bacon Grill Pig Trough Breakfast on Tuesday, August 20 – or earlier, if they sell out beforehand.<\/strong><\/p>\n
